Overnight Lows dipped down to 35.2 degrees, no worry on any of the crops even the tomatoes over at Elwood made it through the night.  The apples in the fall like a little chill from time to time, not like the spring when it can harm the blossoms or even kill they young fruit.

Warming up to 61 today, with temps in the mid 40′s as the six u-pick fields  open this morning bring some fleece with you to Londonderry, New Hampshire.  Many in town wonder, what a great place for a Cabelas or a Bass Pro, just in case you needed some stylish outdoor clothing for your day in the outdoors.  Someday soon, on your trip from Boston we may even have those tax free stores open at exit 4 or 5 on your way to the orchards.  For now head for the closet before you come.

Apple Blossom for the spring of 2007 in Londonderry, New HampshireEver have a design consultant help you with decorating your home? You may find they are always looking for displays to be “odd”. A pair of items looks out of place, on the wall or on the table, even four or six items end up looking like soldiers out for a march or pins waiting to be knocked down. Design is almost always implemented in odds. Nature is also often odd, who would have expected our Hometown Online News forecast today to show highs of 61 and lows of 35 degrees.

Take a close look at our bountiful Londonderry Spring blossoms, Five petals, Five carpel’s the visible part of the female reproductive organ of the blossom. If you click on the photo you can see them as green lobes just under the stamens, the male side of the blossom starts with the the pistils reaching above the stamens with sticky tip, the stigma at the top. This is where the bees deposit pollen when “on the wing” during spring in Londonderry.
